Lincolnshire County Council part-funder and commissioner of adult care and community well-being services entered into a legal agreement with NKDC for the delivery of the project.
Dice was appointed to complete civil, structural and flood risk services for RIBA Stage 1-6. Our team worked with the architect to develop masterplan layouts for the development, providing early advice regarding surface water attenuation features required to serve the site. We specified SuDs features in the form of ponds, swales and soakaways, integrated within the landscape scheme. Flat topography and shallow sewers located within adjacent highways, required introduction of a foul water pumping station.
Our structural engineers provided option studies, exploring the most suitable structural solutions for the extra care accommodation, adult living and private housing. A concrete frame, comprising flat slab floor plates was specified for the extra care facility. This solution provided flexible floor plates and facilitated a mixture of cellular and open plan accommodation, whilst allowing the introduction of modern, glazed facades.
Traditional load bearing masonry, supporting precast floors and traditional timber truss roofs were adopted for the adult accommodation and traditional housing units.
