We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our established yet growing team in the role of Graduate Structural Engineer. The most suitable candidate will have a degree in a course relating to Structural Engineering or be expecting to graduate in Summer 2026 and will have aspirations of working towards chartership status (IStructE preferred). We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the built environment and structural engineering.
The Graduate Structural Engineer will be responsible for the technical delivery of a portfolio of exciting projects including Commercial, Leisure and Retail, Industrial, Healthcare, Residential and Education schemes, up to £60 million in value. Your Role
- Responsibility for the delivery of feasibility, preliminary and detailed engineering design including full tender and construction packages.
- Utilisation of various computer software programs which include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Autodesk and more specialist software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Tedds, Robot Structural Analysis and NBS Chorus.
- Maintain high technical standards consistent with the project design brief.
- Preparation of reports, structural calculations, structural designs, and structural drawings.
- Assist with the development and implementation of Quality Systems associated with all structural projects.
- Undertake site visits associated with inspections and / or site investigation works
- Attend project meetings alongside the Project Manager / Design Manager where required.
- Develop a knowledge of the CDM Regulations and construction industry health and safety legislation.
- Assist with the development of fee proposals & bids.
- Assist with project budgets and ensure work is delivered on time and on budget.
- Assist in consultation with clients, other staff members, and statutory bodies including Building Control, NHBC, Planning Authorities, Highway Authorities, Environment Agency, Statutory Undertakers etc.
- Other duties may occasionally be required to support the needs of the business.
Key Skills & Experience
- Educated to degree level or expecting to graduate in Summer 2026 in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or an equivalent subject and/or level, with a minimum 2:1.
- Previous work experience relevant to civil or structural engineering is preferred but not essential.
- A dynamic work ethic and pro-active approach to problem solving.
- Aspiration to work towards chartered status with MIStructE or MICE, which will be fully supported on our graduate training programme.
- Knowledge of designing steel, concrete, timber and masonry structures to European and British codes of practice.
- Possess excellent IT skills with proficiency in using spreadsheets and word software. Experience utilising other packages such as AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla Structural Designer and/or Robot Structural Analysis would be advantageous.
- Able to meet deadlines with strong organisational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to represent the business at client and wider design meetings where required.
