Dice are proud to have supported the successful delivery of the new Aeronautical Building at Leicester College, a landmark facility now complete and handed over to the College.
The project progressed from early-stage steel erection through to full completion, delivering a modern, purpose-built environment designed to support the next generation of aeronautical engineers and technicians. During construction, the structural framework was carefully coordinated to achieve the building’s striking architectural form while maintaining efficiency and buildability on site.
Early works focused on the installation of pile caps and preparation of ground floor slab edge beams, including blinding layers to enable accurate and controlled construction sequencing. As the structure advanced, steelwork erection formed a key milestone, establishing the building’s primary load-bearing frame and enabling follow-on trades to progress efficiently.
Concrete protection to steel columns was detailed and formed in sequence with the structural frame, ensuring durability, compliance, and long-term performance. This careful coordination of steel and concrete elements allowed the project team to seamlessly transition into upper floor construction, envelope installation, and internal works.
From exposed steelwork in the early stages through to a fully completed and operational facility, the project demonstrated strong collaboration between all parties involved, including Wilten Construction, MDA Consulting Engineers, Moss Architecture, Steven Hunt & Associates, and Leicester College.
Now complete, the Aeronautical Building stands as a high-quality, functional space that reflects the ambition of the College and the collaborative effort behind its delivery. Dice Consulting Engineers are delighted to have contributed to a facility that will inspire and support students for years to come.
