Why Understanding Vegetation Constraints Matters

Existing vegetation can have a significant influence on engineering design. Trees, hedges, and other landscape features can affect factors such as foundations, drainage strategies, ground conditions, and the overall relationship between a proposed development and its surroundings.

How it Works

The new feature automates the creation of vegetation influence zones by generating concentric detail line rings around existing tree and hedge locations.

The tool adapts to different vegetation types by applying appropriate methods:

  • Individual trees: Circular influence zones are automatically created using each tree’s centre point.
  • Linear hedges: Capsule-shaped zones are generated using the hedge centreline to accurately represent elongated vegetation features.
  • Overlapping vegetation: The Resolve Intersections function identifies and manages overlaps between neighbouring vegetation zones, ensuring a clear and coordinated representation.

This automated approach removes the need for repetitive manual adjustments, creating a consistent method for modelling vegetation constraints across a wide range of projects.
